Workshop 1: Plan to Protect
Many insurance carriers are now requiring both initial and annual training for those that work with children, youth and vulnerable persons. A two hour initial training course can make a significant difference to educate and equip your staff and volunteers. Seminar includes awareness, implementation of abuse prevention, child/youth protection procedures, and reporting and response. This must have workshop meets insurance carrier requirements and standards.
We have written interactive, engaging training modules for boards, youth working with children and adults working with children and youth.
One hour refreshers are also available.
Workshop 2: Deliver us from evil! Could it happen here?
Are parents and community members losing faith in schools, churches and institutions? How much is too much prevention? This seminar will look at case studies, policies, and current legislation which will help ensure that you and your school will not fall victim to child abuse incidence and accusations. Specific focus will include how to implement abuse prevention which does not distract from the school’s mission statement.
Modules include awareness activities, definitions of abuse, understanding legal perspectives, insurance industry standards, and program policies and reporting and response when accusations or suspicions come your way. Case studies also provide practical application to the training.
Workshop 3: Who is ultimately in control? Helping children find an anchor and wholeness?
Melodie Bissell President of Winning Kids Inc., presents this seminar on helping children feel like winners while living in a post modern society. Questions that will be answered during our time together will be: How can teachers and parents help children overcome the fears around evil, danger, abuse, wars, etc. How can teachers and parents help children find healing when bad things have happened in their lives? What role do teachers and parents have in demonstrating understanding and compassion? Optional content available upon request: Dealing with children that have been abused, and training children to say no.
Workshop 4: Running the Race in Children’s Programming, Striving for Continuous Improvement
How does your organization measure up? What are your strengths and opportunities for improvement? During this workshop you will have an opportunity to take a preliminary assessment of your organization or department and you will learn how to do a self- assessment with a team. We will examine nine checkpoints of a strong children’s program, including leadership, planning, curriculum selection, parent partnership, volunteer management, communication, growth, training and networking
Workshop 5: Can I let my children out of my sight? Street smart and wise!
As parents and caregivers, fear can easily grip us when our children are no longer always with us. This seminar is designed to equip parents to train children to become street smart, at the same time sparing the gory details of what could happen! Out of sight could be preparation to launch if it is for kindergarten, an overnight sleep, or to the shopping mall, Seminar also includes equipping your children to be wise on the internet. Parents will leave the seminar with an arsenal of tools and helps to preparing their children to be street smart and wise.
Weight can be given to either street wise or internet wise, depending on your preference.
